Undergraduate Program

Changes to the ECE Program coming soon...

The B.Eng. degree program is highly structured. In your first year, you and your peers will all take the same Engineering core courses regardless of which program or specialization you eventually pursue. The Engineering core includes courses in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering Fundamentals, English, and Chemistry. Once you enter second year you will select a specific department and degree program. It usually takes five years to complete the program. Don't let this scare you! The inclusion of the mandatory co-op work terms lengthen the program, but remember, while you study you have the added bonus of amassing two years worth of relevent work experience.

The B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering program offers five specializations. View Course Schedule for Electrical Engineering for details.
  • Electronics
  • Communications
  • Digital signal processing
  • Electrical energy systems
  • Electromagnetics and photonics

The B.Eng. in Computer Engineering program offers two specializations. View Course Schedule for Computer Engineering for details.
  • Systems engineering
  • Software engineering

Specialization consists of 3 compulsory technical courses focused on one of the technical areas indicated above. You can forgo specialization, in which case, you must complete any 3 of the compulsory specialization courses. ECE also offers the following options to students wishing to pursue further a subject area covered by an option. Options are additional courses that are offered beyond a B. Eng. degree requirement.

Current Students can visit course syllabi, notes and lab instructions for current, detailed course information.
