RI SPC Product Codes
Randomly interleaved SPC product codes perform better than normal SPC product codes, at low SNR, due to the reduced number of low weight codewords.
Both the code rate and blocklength remain unchanged when compared to the normal SPC PCs.
At higher SNR however the reduced minimum distance of the RI SPC product codes produces an error floor which is determined by analysing the expected weight enumerator.
Reducing the number of low weight codewords tends to improve performance. Therefore serial and parallel concatenated SPC product codes, have also been investigated.
