University: University of Victoria Name of sponsoring Professor: Dr. Lin Cai Department: ECE Modeling and Simulation of Wireless  Networks With the increasing demand for Internet access anywhere, anytime, the Internet and wireless systems will converge to a ubiquitous information transport infrastructure, supporting heterogeneous multimedia applications. This research project will focus on exploiting the diversity of wireless networks, including user cooperative diversity and multi-radio diversity, which can significantly improve radio resource and energy efficiency, service coverage and quality, and even enable services otherwise impossible to deliver in traditional non-cooperative and single-radio-access networks.
