RS-485

For a good explanation of RS-485, refer to the article Design RS-485 Circuits by Jan Axelson in Circuit Cellar Ink Issue 107 June 1999.

RS-485 was chosen for noise immunity due to the differential voltages and twisted pair cabling and long distance communication. Half-Duplex RS-485 was used.

Each terminal is default receive. i.e. they are always listening. Refer to MAX483 page for a typical wiring diagram and datasheet.
