Sinewave Generator Board
For development purposes, the NxtPhase proprietary digital output must be emulated. This 3-phase line voltage and current will be emulated using a DSP. The DSP, a Motorola 56303, will use a polynomial approximation to generate the six sampled sinusoids. The DSP resides on a NxtPhase proprietary printed circuit board, henceforth referred to as the debug board. The debug board connects into a compact-PCI bus. The six sinusoid samples are sent over the bus to the "merging unit" every sampling period. The samples are sent on a serial TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) bus. The graphic below shows the communications between the sinewave generator board and the clock and frame generator board. The clock and frame generator is designed to simply send a clock and frame signal to both the sinewave generator and the merging unit. This method avoids clock skew between the two boards.
