Problem - Measurement

P erhaps the most important innovation in this project is the method of measuring the height of the interface.  In order to calibrate the Flo.Point meters to within their specified accuracy, the measurement must be accurate to less than 1%.

Several methods to perform this measurement were considered, including

  • Optical reflection / diffraction measurement
  • Metered or precisely controlled fluid input
  • Float type sensors

The accepted method must be simple, resilient, accurate, and cost-effective.
