The COMPUTER MUSIC TRANSCRIPTION was an ELEC/CENG499A group design  project, part of the University of Victoria Engineering requirements for undergraduate studies. The project was to create a system in MATLAB, which can interpret music in the audio form, and transcribe it to a staff format. The package can assist musicians who prefer to compose music by playing their instruments of choice without having to sit down with a pen in hand. This allows musicians not have to imagine what their composition pieces sound like while they are composing. The system is capable of detecting notes ranging in four consecutive octaves from C3 to C7. Even with the inadequacies that exist within MATLAB, the system still achieved limited real-time performance.
