System Diagram

The diagram shown to the right illustrates a high-level system with several independent real-time units (A, B, C, D) performing different tasks which may conflict with each other. Each path-crossing point is a potential conflict. A real-time communications scheme is required (using an Awareness Unit, as proposed by this project) to alert each system of the state and position of other systems such that each unit can operate effectively without colliding with another. As the motion and path of any unit may change with time there is no effective way to predict beforehand what the unitís path will be. Therefore, a real-time update of each system, current position and planned path with respect to each other is needed.
