The Black Box

The original Radio Drum was created in AT&T Bell Laboratories in the late 1980's. It processes the eight analog signals produced by the four antennas in the Radio Drum and sends a serial bit stream to be interpreted by the host computer. This is the Marion Systems black box, the most recent Radio Drum development.

The Radio Drum is a three dimensional motion sensing device. It uses capacitive moments sensing to determine the position of an object moving in a three-dimensional space above a surface. The goal of this project is to redesign the Radio Drum control box for UVATT with the purpose of minimizing cost and size.
