CENG/ELEC/SENG 499: Term 4A: May - August 2012


Students are strongly encouraged to select a project originating from the Industry or external organizations. An extensive directory of local industry can be found under: http://www.viatec.ca/BusinessDirectory.aspx.

Project and team selection must be finalized BEFORE the end the first week of classes of each term. Normal team size is 3 - 5 students. Use UVic electronic board: https://moodle.uvic.ca/login/index.php to search for partners or for other communications.

The following suggested topics involve the simulation study of core techniques for next generation cellular systems -3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE). I am willing to supervise any project related to novel applications of electronics, sensors and acoustics. Of particular interest are projects with potential commercial value. For such projects students might need to sign a nondisclosure agreement. The projects will be conducted in groups of 2-4 persons. Prerequisites include good marks (min. B+) in ELEC 330 and ELEC 380 courses. The first step required in the project will be search of the literature, patents and commercial availability to assure that the idea is new and promising.

Interested students should identify and approach suitable faculty supervisor from ECE or CSc Departments. If a project is selected, the group must send a progress email or meeting with the sponsor every two weeks.
