Thesis Errata

Below is a list of errata for the Master's thesis:

p. 46, equation at bottom of page
should read
    ... z^{-(L_0+K_0)}

p. 52, Section 3.12
The following text is incorrect:
    1. The filters H_0 and H_1 must be filters of odd length with impulse
    responses symmetric about -1/2 and 1/2, respectively.
This is clearly wrong as written.  Obviously, odd-length filters cannot
have impulse responses with half-sample symmetry.  The author must have
been suffering from severe sleep deprivation when he wrote this. :-)
The above text should be replaced with:
    1. The filters H_0 and H_1 must be filters of odd length with impulse
    responses symmetric about 0 and -1, respectively.

p. 54, 8th last line
The text "and truncation where" should read "and the floor operation where".

p. 60, Figure 3.13(b)
The transfer functions in this figure are incorrect.  The transfer
functions for the two filters should be 1/4 + 1/4 z^{-1} and -1/2 - 1/2 z.
That is, both transfer functions appear with their signs incorrectly inverted.

p. 65
There is a typographical error in the formula for A(z).
The formula should read
    A(z) = (-1 + z^{-1}) ...
instead of
    A(z) = (1 + z^{-1}) ...
