Information Theory
Project
The project is an opportunity to investigate a topic in
information theory in depth.
It can be a review of an area or of a specific paper or group of papers.
Students can choose their own topic or consider one of the following.
- Rate distoriton theory
- Reed-Muller codes (binary and nonbinary)
- Turbo codes
- Polar codes
- Low density parity check (LDPC) codes
- Self-dual codes
- Network coding
- Video compression
- Dictionary compression methods
- Image compression
- Audio compression
- Asymmetric numeral systems
- Bit interleaved coded modulation
- Locally recoverable codes
- Coding for deletion channels
- Quantum information theory
- Information theory and biology
- Universal source coding
- Run length encoding
- MIMO channel capacity
- Self-synchronizing codes (T-codes)
- Convolutional codes
