Anton Nakazawa:

Anton is a third year electrical engineering student at UVic and is pursuing a specialization in mechatronics.  He has worked at RIM and Neverblue in software oriented positions but hopes to have future work in a hardware specialization to round his experience.  He has an avid interest in robotics and automation, believing the future will bring a new era of automated living, allowing us more time to pursue our ambitions. Anton’s ambition is to place his stake at the forefront of robotic development.

In his spare time, Anton enjoys playing video games at home, swimming laps at the pool, and shooting his buddies with automatic airsoft rifles in the forest.  He is also an avid bicyclist and chooses to ride his bike to destinations whenever possible.

The quadcopter project attracted Anton’s attention as it would provide a good opportunity to become familiar with control theory and electromechanical systems.  He is eager to complete a working prototype UAV so that he may test it in simulated, airsoft combat.  In the future, Anton would like to continue to develop the quadcopter to become fully autonomous so that he may truly step into the world of robotics.

Bai Xiang (Barry) Jin:

A third year computer engineering student, Barry is interested in specializing in either communications or digital and embedded systems.

An avid reader, Barry spends much of his free time pouring over science fiction and fantasy books, though a round of video games with friends is always welcomed. His other hobbies include playing badminton and learning Taijiquan.

Introduced to the quadcopter project by his friend Anton, Barry found it to be a good opportunity to gain experience in his potential specializations. If the project is successful, Barry wishes to investigate potential users of such a device and see if marketing is possible.
