Sawyer is a 3rd year Electrical Engineering student, soon to be fourth year. He began his Engineering degree at Vancouver Island University where he played Varsity Baseball. After transferring to the University of Victoria in 2010 Sawyer joined the FSAE team in their efforts to make a Formula style racecar. He has completed two-coop terms with Viking Air and plans to graduate in the spring of 2014. Sawyer is a sensitive animal who partakes in many forms of art, he has great hands and enjoys long walks on the beach.
James is originally from Nanaimo, BC. He is a third year electrical engineering student at UVic. His engineering interest includes manufacturing automation and renewable engery sources. Since working on the EGT project, James grew an interest in the Formula Motorsport Team and became a member in October 2012.
Ludi is a 3rd year Electrical Engineering student interested in the coding and digital signal processing. He likes to learn different software applications. In his first year engineering design course, he used a water sensor to control and model the electricity generation by water. His past co-op work experience include web design at Cogen Media Ltd and software develop at FTS Ltd, and he learned the popular coding languages like PHP, CSS and MySQL. He is good at math and electrical circuit analysis. In his spare time, he likes to play computer games, basketball, tennis, etc.
Garvin is a third year electrical engineering student looking to specialize in electrical power systems. He is interested in electrical car design and figured that a great place to start the development of these skills would be assisting in designing ways to best tune an engine for the FSAE car. He has completed multiple coops with Cenovus Energy Inc. working as an electrical engineering field student assisting with electrical project and maintenance work.
Kurtis Newman was born in Victoria, B.C., Canada in 1990. He is a third year Electrical Engineering student at the University of Victoria (UVic) in Victoria, B.C. He has completed courses and labs on linear and electronic circuits including various electronic devices. During his studies, Kurtis has learned about computer programming, computer logic, signal processing, and semiconductor properties. During high school he enjoyed learning to build and solder basic circuits, which is partly why he decided to join the electrical engineering program. He has completed one co-op with Fullboar Creative, and will be doing a co-op with FortisBC in the spring. His coop experience taught him how time and project management, and interpersonal skills can help develop a fully functional, task-oriented team. At Fullboar Creative he developed a RESTful web API for a Timesheets mobile application. Kurtis will be continuing his studies at UVic and will specialize in Electronics and Electrical Energy Systems.
