ECE 456 Wireless and Mobile Communications
COURSE OBJECTIVES
To introduce various fundamental topics of current and future wireless
communication systems, including propagation channel modeling, digital communication
over fading channels, fading mitigation techniques, multiple access techniques,
spread spectrum techniques, and selected advanced transmission technologies.
TEXTBOOKS
Required: Introduction to Digital Wireless Communications, H.-C. Yang, 2017.
PREREQUISITES
ELEC 350 Communication Theory and Systems I required, ELEC 450 Communication Theory and Systems II recommended.
Note: Essential background knowledge includes the basics of digital bandpass
modulation/detection and the basics of probability and random variables.
LECTURES
Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9:30 am ~ 10:20 pm either virtual through Zoom or at ECS 123.
COURSE ASSESSMENT
10% Assignments, 10% Quizzes, 25% Midterms (Jun. 25), and 55% Final exam.
