1. Research

1.1 Research Interests

My research interests are quite broad and cover many areas of engineering. The main theme that runs through all of these interests is a very strong emphasis on the implementation of newly proposed methods in software (often using the C++ programming language). Some of my research interests include:

  • computing and software engineering

    • source-code analysis (especially C++)
    • open-source software
    • education and teaching of programming (especially with C++)
    • efficient and robust implementation of algorithms (especially in C++)
  • image/signal processing, geometry processing, and computational geometry

    • multiresolution signal and geometry processing (e.g., wavelets, filter banks, and subdivision surfaces)
    • mesh-based image representations and content-adaptive image sampling
    • data compression (especially image compression)
    • multimedia systems and computer graphics
